After updating to the new version, 2020.1, I was not able to save a post, edit a post, log off, or log on in another browser. I had to use FTP to rename the plugin folder to deactivate it. Then I was able to log on and off my website and make posts. Very unhappy that I have to retype the long post I had done because this plugin wouldn't let me save when I was logged in but had updated the plugin. I am deleting this plugin from all six of my websites.

Akismet is great but it does not stop serious spammers who want to get on your site. Use to use Wp Spam Shield from Red Sand Media but I think they have stop updating and it has been removed from Code Canyon. This is the best stop spam plugin if you have a busy site where it has user generated content. Kudos to the producer, I have made a donation. I have been using the plugin for three months now and have started using it on all my sites. Yes, it does block out genuine users sometimes, but they get a chance to register with the allow requests. I guess it is a small price to pay if you don't want 100 spam users every morning.

My old review (I was angry and I am sorry) The current update broke all twenty six sites that I maintain for my clients. Is it even tested? Can't even rollback to the previous versions. Removed it for good. Thanks for ruining what was once a great plugin. This was indeed a good plugin in the hands of the original developer. The new development is disappointing. I am a long time user and the above mishap (sometimes it happens to anyone of us) just made me react badly. I take my words back. Give it a test run and use the plugin to stop spammy registrations and comments. Also note that, sometimes it blocks legit users too. But you can configure it to avoid such false positives.
